For years, I kept hearing about real estate through my family. I didn’t know a thing about it, but I knew my grandfather did pretty well. That small seed was planted early and took me farther than I ever imagined.
Throughout my childhood, my dad set high standards for me. I played football and even made “Allstars”. I was extremely competitive and that was largely because of the mindset my dad drilled into me. He used to say, “Second place is the first loser” and “If you can’t win, you don’t need to be doing it.” It pushed me to always strive to be better and not settle for less. And my mom was just as impactful. She taught me to do what you say you are going to do, be early, not just on time, work harder than everyone else, and keep a good attitude.
Those values served me well in life. At 20 I applied for a job at the local Jaguar dealership. A few days later they told me I didn’t have the experience and I was too young. Most people probably would’ve left it alone, but I couldn’t shake it. I went back down there in person and told him, “Give me 30 days, and if I can’t do what you need done, just fire me,” and somehow, he agreed to it.
Thirty days went by and I was still there, and a few years later I ended up taking his job and becoming the manager. That moment taught me that if you believe in yourself and are willing to go after it, you can create opportunities for yourself.
Around 24, I got my real estate license, finally wanting to see what it was all about after years of hearing about it through my family. But at the time I was working 40 to 60 hours a week at the dealership. I didn’t have a ton of money to get started, so I started going to Master Commissioner foreclosure sales and spent about six months just watching and learning. With help from a banker and a friend who believed in me, I put together a plan and went to about 10 banks. Most of them told me no, but all it took was a yes to help me get started.
We began buying run-down houses, fixing them up, and selling them. For about four years, that was my entire focus. Over time, I realized I was not the best at the construction side. I could do a few things, but where my skills really came into play was when it came time to sell. Talking to people, negotiating deals, and getting transactions across the finish line was far more exciting to me. I’m not wired to do anything halfway, so eventually I went full time into real estate.
In real estate I’ve been able to do a lot of different things, like selling 87 homes in one year, building up a team, and working alongside my wife Amy who is a great buyer’s agent. If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s the value of relationships. When you show people who you are and stay true to your word, it opens the door to so many opportunities.
Even through challenges like the pandemic and losing my mom in 2023, I’ve learned my drive is what always brings me back. I stepped back for a while to process the grief, and it hit especially hard because she lived right across the street from us and truly was my hero. Losing her was very hard, but with time, I’ve regained the fire that has defined my life. Now, I’m back to the basics: getting in front of people, building relationships, and doing the work I love.
My family is my greatest motivation. My daughter Taylor and her husband Brennan have a son, Colton. He is the coolest little dude. Being grandparents has been such a fun new chapter for us. I also like dirt biking, something I’ve done since I was a kid, and playing golf with my wife.
With experience spanning residential, commercial, and investment properties, I know how to navigate just about any type of transaction and help you be successful in the end. For sellers, I offer an extensive plan to help prepare your home, price it strategically, and market it to reach the right buyers. The key is positioning your home to outperform others by showcasing what makes it special, making improvements that add the most value for the least cost, and using the latest marketing strategies to maximize exposure.
For buyers, whether you are working with me or my wife Amy, we personalize the process and help you determine what best fits your needs while also being a great investment. I’m an expert in negotiations, representing your best interests down to the last detail so nothing is left on the table. From coordinating the details behind the scenes to problem-solving on the fly, I am in your corner, ensuring the process is smooth, enjoyable, and highly effective from beginning to end.
My goal is to be a lifelong resource for all your real estate needs—someone you know you can reach out to with any questions, recommendations, or support long after the transaction is over.
Sincerely,
